Meet Diana Callas

Growing up in West Bloomfield, Michigan, I dealt with unwanted hair that I found embarrassing — the kind of persistent, confidence-affecting problem that most people quietly endure and few talk about openly. I wanted a solution. 

In the seventies, I tried laser hair removal when the technology was still in its infancy — machines the size of furniture, protocols that weren’t yet understood, results that didn’t come. The technology wasn’t ready. But I was paying attention.

I understood, even then, that the problem was solvable. It was just a matter of time, knowledge, and the right tools.

In 1983, I became a licensed Electrologist in the state of Michigan and opened my practice — beginning what would become a four-decade career built entirely on that original conviction: that every person who walks through my door deserves a treatment that actually works.

A Career Built on Credentials, Not Shortcuts

My training history is uncommon in this industry — not because I attended a lot of programs, but because I attended the right ones at the right time.

Around 2000, I completed intensive training at Lasertrolysis of Naples — widely considered the premier laser training institution in the country before its closure. The program ran approximately two months of concentrated study in laser application across multiple device types and treatment protocols. I am among a small number (6) of practitioners in Michigan who attended this school. Most providers in this field received their laser training from device manufacturers — a process that typically spans a day or two and covers one device. My foundation was built differently.

That same year I completed formal training on the Coherent LightSheer Laser. In 2006 I completed additional certification on the Lumenis LightSheer for Hair Removal — the device I continue to use today. My relationship with this platform spans more than 25 years.

I hold membership in two of the most respected professional organizations in my field — the Society of Clinical and Medical Electrologists, Inc., which I joined in 1997, and the Society for Clinical and Medical Hair Removal, which I joined in 2003. In 2006 I received the Frances Pothews Five Star Distinguished Service Award for

Customer Service and Satisfaction. It is a recognition I am proud of, but honestly my clients already knew what it confirmed — that I measure my success by their results, not my booking calendar.

On Lumenis and Why the Technology Matters

I have watched laser hair removal evolve from non-functional industrial equipment in the 1970s to the precision clinical tools available today. I am direct about the history: lasers for hair removal have existed since the 1960s, but nothing worked reliably until the mid-1990s. The technology had to be perfected before it could deliver on its promise.

My relationship with the LightSheer platform predates the Lumenis name itself — I completed my first certification on the device when it was still manufactured under the Coherent brand in 2000, then recertified under the Lumenis name in 2006. That is over 25 years of continuous operation on the same platform.

I credit Lumenis specifically — they make very, very good medical and surgical devices, and that assessment comes from over 25 years of operating their equipment, not from a sales relationship. 

I chose the LightSheer Duet because I know what it can do. I have used it long enough to know exactly what it cannot do. That clarity is what you get in a consultation with me — honest, experienced assessment from someone who has no interest in taking on a client she cannot genuinely serve.

What 40+ Years Looks Like in Practice

I am a Licensed Registered Electrologist (RE), Licensed Esthetician (LE), and Certified Laser Hair Removal Professional (CLHRP). I have been in continuous practice since 1983 — longer than most of my competitors have been alive.
In that time I have treated thousands of clients across a range of skin types, hair types, and treatment areas. I have watched technologies come and go, seen the rise of franchise laser chains, and observed the consequences when patients receive treatment from undertrained staff using inadequately validated devices. I have corrected many of those outcomes. I am very familiar with what inadequate treatment looks like years down the road.
